Preparedness is a Must

As we all know, an earthquake is a severe shaking of the Earth's surface. The shaking is triggered by changes in the outermost layer of the Earth. It is one of the most disruptive forces of nature on planet Earth. The Philippines, our country, is vulnerable to natural disasters. This is because of its location in the Ring of Fire, or typhoon belt, a wide area of the Pacific Ocean where many of the volcanic eruptions and earthquakes on Earth occur.

An earthquake is unpredictable that can happen anytime. That's why we should always be prepared in times of this disaster. When it comes to earthquake drills, "Duck, cover, and hold" is a very common term. It is the immediate action and effective method to protect yourself once an earthquake strikes and you are caught indoors. The government came up with the program "National Simultaneous Earthquake Drill" so that we know how to respond to the complications of an actual earthquake.

It is a must to engage in earthquake drills. Do not claim that it's all a waste of energy and time. We must take part in drills and programs because it allows us to be more conscious of what to do during a disaster and all of this is for our safety. Although it is never possible to predict earthquakes, being prepared spells the difference for people's safety. The only way we can combat a natural disaster is to be prepared and ready.
